Gathered Desk Skirt

Happy Friday to everybody.

Today I finished the skirt cover up for my old antique desk. This desk is my grandma's & is over 100 years old. I think that it is mahogany wood, but I'm not sure. This poor piece of  furniture has gotten so beat up over the years, but it has served many purposes & I don't want to give it up.
This is why I wanted to make a skirt cover up so it would look a little nicer in my craft room & the material matches the curtains that I made.
Before I give you my supplie list, I wanted to explain about Velcro aka hook & loop.
For the adv id users this isn't new to you, but for anyone that has never used this product I thought it would be nice to explain a little info about this product.
There are so many different kinds of hook & loop from the sew on kind to the stick which I used for my project.
Hook & loop can be very pricey & when I need a lot of it, I measure the length then when I buy the product I only get half as many yards as I need.
See what I do is I cut the product length wise that way I will get double the amount. When you buy hook & loop, you have to buy the yardage you need of the hook side & then the same amount for the loop side.
So, if for example it cost $2.69 per yard, it will cost you $2.69 for a yard of the hook side & another $2.69 for a yard of loop side. This is why I buy half of what I really need & cut the lengths in half to save money.
Just a little tip in case you haven't done the same thing.
Oh yes also, the hook side is the soft fuzzy side & the loop side is as it says the loopy side.

Supplies I used;
4 yards of large cotton check material by Moda
White cotton thread by Melrose
Hook & Loop Stick On kind,1 1/4 yards ( remember I only purchased half of what I needed to save money & cut length wise to end up with right amount)
My Singer Futura sewing/embroidery machine
My Kenmore serger (which I used to piece  & finish off the sections  of the skirt together)

Well I hope that you enjoyed another step in getting my craft room ready.

Remember, I love getting comments & thanks to all that left me the recent ones. When getting all your comments, it encourages  me to craft & post more.

I hope that you had a wonderful & blessed day.
Hugs, Dee

Sympathy Card

How is everybody doing today?
Yesterday was my birthday & I turned 58 years old. I want to thank everyone on Facebook for all my birthday wishes & a thank you to everyone for all the beautiful birthday cards that I received this week.

This morning I watched my 17 month old Grandson, for a few hours & he is always so good for me. Derek  is so funny & every time he hears music on the TV or radio, he loves to shake his little butt, so cute. We say that he is dancing, LOL.

Today, I designed a sympathy card for one of my neighbors that lost his mom. He expected it, cause she was 94 & has been very ill for such a long time. Even though they knew, it still is very hard to deal with. I hope that this card helps them with their grief.

Supplies used were,
White card stock
Glitter paper pack from DCWV
Stickles glitter (colors icing & star dust)
Anna Griffin watercolor pencils
Cricut Expression using the Christmas Noel cart for the angel
Aleene's white tacky glue
Pop dots
Glue Glider Pro adhesive
Grograin ribbon by American Crafts

I love getting comments, so please leave as many  comments or questions that you would like. If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.
Hope that you had a wonderful & blessed day.

Hugs,
Dee

Another Step To My New Craft Room

Hello There,
The weather has been absolutely beautiful, I love being outside seeing everything blooming. I love this time of year.

I dropped off the card  today at the asisstant living facility when I went to visit my friend. The owner just loved the card & asked me if it was alright to display it where everybody could see. I said sure, it was for all the staff to enjoy. She also said that she wanted all the people that live there to see it, too.
Dosen't it make you feel good when you make a card,  it is so greatly appreciated, to the one that you had made it for, it cheers that person or persons up. Isn't that a wonderful feeling, I sure feel that way, what about you?

So, here is the next step to the designing of my craft room. I have only one window, but thank goodness the room is very bright. I wanted to make a curtain, that would give me some privacy cause its in front of the house near the road.
But I still didn't want to block the light & sunshine. I decided to make a light weight swag  for the top & a sheer tier on the bottom.
I love checks since they work well in a country decor & that's me, I'm a country girl at heart.
Don't you think that the curtains came out well & are just the right decor for my girly craft room?
In the one pic you will see some hook & loop, that will be for another project in the room, but using the same check material.

Supplies Used were,
Simplicity Home Decor pattern
4 yards of large checked cotton material from Moda
2 1/2  yards eyelet cotton lace trim
3 1/2 yards cotton sheer material from Moda
White cotton thread from Melrose which I purchased from HSN (wonderful thread to sew with)

Tell me what you think, do you like my idea or not? I would really like to hear your opinions, positive or negative opinions.
Everybody has different taste in decor & that's great, but tell me how if it was your room, what type of curtain would you had made?
Or if you would of just used some kind of shade or blinds.

I'm really curious about how you would of done the window, if it was your room.
I love comments & would really love to hear from you.

I hope you had a wonderful & blessed day.
Hugs,
Dee

Thank You Card

Hey There & How Is Everybody Today?

I wanted to make a special thank you card for a bunch of great caretakers, who take care of the elderly in an Asissantant Living Facility.

I try to go there every 2 weeks to visit a good friend of mine & how I enjoy talking to the other elderly residents there. They make me laugh, I learn things that I didn't know & I have such a wonderful day when I visit.
So I thought that I would make this special card for the owner of the place & for also the nurses & everybody else that works & takes care of the residents. They all are so kind & giving.
I have heard so many horror stories about nursing homes & asisstant living places, but I have to say that this one is far the best that I have ever seen.
The lady that I am friends with is so very  happy there. She goes to church every sunday, they take her out to lunches, dancing, she has a crafting time & so many other things to keep their residents active & feeling young & happy. In the summer they even have barbecues & invite the families to participate, how nice.
I always thought that visiting a facility like this would be so depressing, but this one isn't. The facility is somewhat old, but is very well kept & very clean.
I am so grateful that my friend is living in such a wonderful place for the last years of her life.

Supplies Used:
White Cardstock
Anna Griffin Designer Mat paper
Fiskars Lace Edge Punch
Inkadinkadoo Sentiment Clear Stamp
Ranger Distress Ink (color broken china)
Quilling Paper & Quilling Tool
Pop Dots
Aleene's White Tacky Glue
Glitter Markers
Offray 3/16'' Satin Picot Ribbon
Bling ( blue oval stone)
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
Spellbinders Nestabillities ( oval & rectangle die cuts)

I love getting comments, so please, please leave as many as you would like.
Until tomorrow have a wonderful & blessed day.
Hugs,
Dee

The Second Stage of My New Craft Room

Hey All,

As I promised here is the second stage of my new craft room. I wanted to show you how the walls look after they were painted & before all the furniture & stuff gets moved in.
I am really very happy with the color & it is so very calming. I am so lucky to have this room in our home, because in the afternoon the sun comes in so bright. I will have the best of both worlds, when I need to getaway to be calm to craft & for the sunny afternoons to be energized into thinking up new designs.
What do you think of the color?
I love your comments, so please leave as many as you'd like to.

And don't forget about the Cricut Anniversary Expression 2 giveaway tonight with Everyday Cricut.
Did you leave your comments yet?

Until tomorrow, I hope that you have a wonderful & blessed day.

Quilled Thinking Of You Card

HAPPY EASTER To Everybody,
I hope that you had a wonderful holiday.

I didn't post my card yesterday, because we were at church for a special service. My son Steven was baptised, had his first holy communion & his confirmation all in one evening. It was a beautiful service, with a candle light vigil. I am so proud of him. Later in the week I will post a pic of him being baptised.

Now for the card, I embossed the card stock on the front, punched a scallop edge at the bottom. I also used a spellbinders dye for  the ovals, the hummingbird & flowers are quilled. It was a fun card to make & I love using Anna Griffin card stock.

Supplies I used:
White card stock
Anna Griffin Designer card stock
Martha Stewart edge punch
Cuttle bug Embossing Folder ( a bird & vine theme)
Spellbinders Nestabilities Scallop Ovals
Quilling Paper w/ a quilling tool & white glue
Quilled Rose is from Quilled Creations
Ribbon by Offray 3/16''
Pop Dots
Thinking of You Stamp From The Pink Stamper Collection

Hope everyone enjoyed this card as much as I liked making it.
I love comments, so please leave me as many as you like.
Until tomorrow, I hope that you had a wonderful & blessed Day

My Journey Into The Making Of My New Craftroom

And A Big Hello Yo You,
I would like to share my journey in the making of my new craft room.
It was great to find out that I wouldn't have to do my crafting in the corner of my master bedroom anymore.
Now, I would actually have space to spread out & craft. For the past 3 years I  worked on a snack table & that wasn't fun, but it was better than nothing.
The pics that I am posting today are of  what the room looked like before it was painted.

We are using Glidden satin paint with primer & the color is Smokey Mauve.

The room is a nice size, so I can have a paper crafting  area & also a sewing area.
The closet isn't that big, but will do.

Tomorrow, I will be posting a new card that I made, with the supplies that I used.
Until then, I hope that you will be checking in each day to see what is new & to continue my craft room journey.
Hope you will join me in the fun
I love comments, so please go ahead a leave as many as you like.
Hope that you have a wonderful & blessed day.
Hugs,
Dee

WHEN I GOT DONE DOING THE DESIGN, HONESTLY I REALLY DIDN'T  LIKE THE COLORS TOGETHER
ONE NICE THING THOUGH, NO MATTER WHAT COLORS YOU USE, USING  2 YARNS TOGETHER IT WILL LOOK AS IF IT TWISTS. WHICH CAN BE VERY NICE.
THEY REALLY AREN'T MY FAVORITE COLORS, BUT I ONLY HAD A LITTLE BIT LEFT & I THOUGHT THIS DESIGN WOULD BE A GOOD WAY TO USE THE YARN UP.
MAYBE, IN THE FUTURE I WILL TRY MY DESIGN AGAIN & USE 2 DIFFERENT COLORS THAT I REALLY LIKE.
I HOPE THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT WILL TRY MY DESIGN & MAKE ONE IN THE COLORS THAT THEY LIKE. IT WOULD BE SO NICE TO SEE YOUR WORK.

SUPPLIES THAT I USED:
RED HEART WORSTED WEIGHT YARN COLORS DK. GREEN & GOLD(SMALL AMOUNT, I ACTUALLY HAD ONLY A FEW YARDS OF EACH)

UPDATE

HELLO EVERYBODY, I WILL BE BACK TO BLOGGING IN A DAY OR TWO.
I PLAN ON POSTING THE LAST 2 DISHCLOTHES & INSTRUCTIONS.
ALSO, I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT I HAVE PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE.
I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON A PROJECT, WHICH I WILL BE SHARING WITH YOU.
THE REASON I HAVE BEEN MIA FOR A FEW WEEKS, IS BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SERIOUS PAIN WITH MY BACK. VERY SOON I WILL BE GETTING MY 3RD BACK SURGERY & I AM HOPING THAT IT WILL TAKE AWAY SOME OF MY PAIN. I HAVE ACCEPTED THE FACT THAT I WILL ALWAYS HAVE PAIN, BUT IF THE DOC CAN TAKE SOME PAIN AWAY BY FIXING WHAT HE HAS SAID, THAT I HAVE 3 BROKEN SCREWS IN MY BACK, THAT WOULD BE A BLESSING.
OVER THE YEARS I HAVE LIVED WITH PAIN IN MY BACK & HAVE LEARNED TO ACCEPT IT, BUT IF THIS SURGERY WILL KEEP ME OUT OF A WHEEL CHAIR, I WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL.
SO, I HOPE THAT YOU WILL CHECK BACK IN A DAY OR TWO.
COME & JOIN IN MY JOURNEY OF CRAFTING. WE WILL HAVE FUN ON THE WAY.
SEE YOU THEN.
I HOPE THAT YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL & BLESSED DAY.
HUGS,
DEE
